Steve Jobs (in the T-Mobile Germany press conference) just officially announced a new firmware version for US customers. He didn't say when exactly it would be released - he just mentioned that it's a major overhaul. Don't think this is going to be good news for unlockers.

How do you know it's got no great features if it hasnt been released yet.
Hopefully they'll address the international format number so we dont have to store 2 numbers in dofferent formats for each contact
Hopefully it may restore my baseband from brick, give me back WiFi and IMEI
