I called AT&T and the 'George' told me that someone else had called earlier with the same problem, and he was unable to help either one of us. Is there anyone else who has the same problem.
Prior to updating the firmware, my phone was jailbroken but never unlocked, and upgrading has not fixed any of the problems.
Yes, I had the same problem earlier today while I was trying to work. I was on the phone with AT&T and Apple for over 2 hours trying to get the situation resolved. Anytime I attempted to connect to any internet service a message would pop up saying "Could not activate EDGE: You are not subscribed to EDGE." Eventually they fixed that, but after that I started getting random charges for like $18 or $9 throughout the afternoon, even though I wasn't using the phone. I thought it was some backlog from being on hold for several hours, but tonight I noticed that I was being charged ANY time I accessed the internet. So, even though all iPhone plans come with a flat-rate data plan, some bullshit is fucking up and charging me every time I access the internet. I just called AT&T again, but since its late at night they told me I have to call back again in the morning. So I'm going to have to waste another several hours on hold etc. with these motherfuckers trying to get these charges removed from my account. The AT&T guy tonight did say that he knew other people were having problems with the iPhone, so somehow they've fucked a bunch of shit up for the iPhone in the last day or so... I haven't upgraded to 1.1.3 yet either, I'm on a jailbroken 1.1.2

I had the same issue. I called AT&T and after a lengthy conversation it was restored but I lost my minutes, credit and now I have to wait 5-7 days for my account to be back to where it was before they messed it up.
I'm experiencing the same problem, but unfortunately i'm in Brazil and no AT&T nor Apple to call to and try to fix this. Any ideas of how this EDGE connection problem can be fixed on my own?

Well, I just spent another hour or so on the phone with AT&T trying to get the billing issue resolved. They did refund the money (without much of a problem), but the guy told me that the problem might continue for 1 or 2 more weeks, and every time I get charged for data access I have to call back and have them refund it again. So it looks like I may have to sit on hold with these motherfuckers every goddamn day for the next week or two... Anyone else still having this problem? Because the AT&T guy told me other people were having the same problems too.
