iTunes - how to separate the library for 2 devices?

Hello,

there are:

• 1 iPhone
• 1iPod Touch

Each of them need different music and different apps.

I have iTunes and I use it with the iPhone to sync and backup.

The iPod is connected to the computer just for backup and battery charge. I would like to have a separate library of music and apps for it. I don't want for eg. to have in the iPod the same apps the iPhone has... I cannot sync it.


Is there any way to have 2 devices, 1 iTunes and 2 libraries?

You can do this in multiple ways.

1. Sync from a separate computer account - that keeps things 100% separate.
2. Switch libraries at iTunes launch (with How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one )
3. One library and configure playlists which contain the music you want to sync for each device.

Probably other solutions but these were the three that immediately came to mind.
