iPhone and the human gene

This probably isn't the place for it, but I just need some insight as to what keeps on baffling me.

The iPhone is now on sale direct from the apple store for $399 - free shipping, yet on eBay people are paying as much as $500 for this item?

A couple of those are labeled 'unlocked' which may help the resale, but doesn't seem to justify such an increase in price.

So the question is, what gives? Why are people willing to pay so much on eBay, when they could walk in to any apple store and obtained the same product, with a true apple warranty and with a great price..

I guess i'm just confused, as I see eBay as a place to buy stuff for cheaper than retail, not equal or more expensive.

I would guess many are buying from countries where the iphone is not available... though some could fall into the stupid category also. :)

Is it because the iPhone from AT&T is $399 with a 2 year contract and the ones on eBay don't have a contract? Or is it possible to just walk into a apple store and walk out with just a iPhone with no contract or plan for $399? :confused:

YES! furthermore i do not know why someone update his unlocked iphone while apple warn the users. :confused:

here in german-ebay-store were user that sell 50 8gb iphones á 500,- € (i bought one) and other ebayer sell their locked, unlocked or used iphones for 700,- ++ € at the same time
