Iphone Cracked Screen
So I cracked my screen and the bottom half of my touch screen doesn't work. Lights up but won't respond to touches. It's a hairline crack and according to some people on thie board, if you take it into Apple, they'll probably replace it as long as it's not completely smashed. My question is, are the replacements old bootloaders or new bootloaders. I'd like to know what everyone else has gotten. Your help would be much appreciated.
replacemnt= 4.6 most likely..actually 99.9 % that its gonna be 4.6 bl..
So I went to the Apple store today and they replaced my phone even though it was unlocked. I managed to delete the Baseband so they couldn't really do a system check. Worked out for me. I got stuck when I ran Ieraser, trying to viriginize. But its all good...the only thing is now I have a 1.1.2 4.6 bl. Hopefully a soft unlock will be out soon.
mesallem, was it obvious to them that the screen was broken? i dropped mine last week and now the bottom half of the screen is unresponsive, so i need to replace it. mine is also unlocked, but i cant verginize so i am just wondering what your experience was like...did they ask you questions, did they just hand you a new one, etc? did you have an at and t account previously (or did you activate one before you went in)? just trying to figure out what i can expect so any info would be greatly appreciated.
you dont need to have an activated phone to be covered under warranty, thats what states on some apple page
It was previously activated on ATT. I bought it off an ATT subscriber. So when they ran the IMEI, it showed his info. I just said it was my bros phone. From what understood, as long as the screen isn't shattered, they'll replace it. Mine was just a simple crack under the screen itself. It wasn't evident at first glance. It was maybe 1.5 inches long and a simple crack. They even gave me a new screen protector too.
