Incoming service/provider SMS'

Hi all,

it looks like the iPhone is not capable of receiving/interpreting certain service SMS'.

On a HW unlocked phone I can:
-Receive SMS sent by any other phone to me
-Receive Flash SMS' (like remaining credit notifications on prepaid SIMs)

I do not receive:
-SMS notifications for new voice messages or missed calls
-Provider notifications (like subscription changes et al).

I have tested this with 2 different iPhones on Swisscom and TIM (Italy), being with regular subscription, being with prepaid SIM.

I believe this to be an iPhone issue and unrelated to unlocking.

Anybody else seeing this?

But does the iPhone itself show you you've missed a call in the screen, which almost any phone will do?

So while still a hassle cause you dont know if the caller left a voicemail, you can at least see someone had tried to call?

not if they call while you are out of service area.

I am getting missed call notifications from Optus in Aus. if I am out of service, so i can confirm one kind of service provider alert.

"xxxx xxx xxx called. No VoiceMail message was left. For more info on this feature, free call 147......etc"

As doug_jnr said, not if you are unreachable or the phone is off.

Furthermore this also affects service notifications via SMS which seem to have the same format.
