HW Unlock in Toronto Complete - Works on Rogers!

Just finished the unlock using http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3377 method.

Success, no problems along the way. Oddly after the last step, my SIM was accepted right away, did not need to iAsign or reactivate anything. As soon as I finished step 11 I put the phone back together put in the SIM and phone found Rogers right away.


Thanks to all who have input and helped out. Ill be glad to help out any Toronto people if they have problems along the way... I will not help with taking off covers or attaching switches however, too much responsibility, but any software issues or procedure questions ill be glad to answer.

Did you just use two sewing needles and contacted the two? Also, did you stab the trace or scrape away at it til it was exposed? Lastly, how did taking the iPhone apart go? Any visible damage? That's the part that is most iffy to me, taking the darn thing apart. ;)

Soldered a switch on, yeah scraped away... Taking it apart was a bit messy, scratched up the back cover a little bit ... luckily (well depending on how you look at it) my back cover was already dented from before so I gotta order a new one anyways, Im probably gonna order a black one.

Taking the cover off was probably the hardest part of the whole thing... though the soldering is a bitch, Im lucky my dads company deals with electronics so he had a good station with magnifying glass, fine tip tweezers and soldering iron.

Ah nice. Glad everything is working for you. I'm thinking about giving this a go using the needle method and just stabbing the trace. The trace is so damn small though I'm afraid it would almost cut it in two. That and taking the iPhone apart. Seems like everyone that does it ends up with some kind of battle scar. ;)
