Help! iTunes not recognizing iPhone and no icons!

Ok, I installed something earlier, I forget what it was now, but when I exited the installer ALL OF MY ICONS WERE GONE! My dock was there the status bar was there but the time was wrong and my wallpaper(the earth) was in the background of the springboard. Sometimes it shows the spinning loading animation and sometimes the earth goes away. Other times it will just flash. The only way I can turn it off is by holding down the menu and lock buttons for 10 seconds. iTunes is not recognizing my phone so I cannot do a restore! Is there anyway to manually restore to 1.1.2 with PuTTy or WinSCP or Total Commander. Anything? Please help I am desperate.
