Help create perm ad-hoc network on iphone for iPad
I use pdanet to create a wifi hotspot to tether my iphone internet to my laptop, sometimes... I usually just use the built in but that's not the point. I would like to know if I could lock the phone in to thinking the adhoc network is always there so I don't have to use my computer to first create the network and then connect to it. Why? You may ask. Well I tried this. I first created the network with my mac then connected my ipod touch to it and disconnected my computer. the connection remained and I was able to continue using my touch over the iphones 3g internet. So what? You may ask. Well if I can do that then I think I should be able to do that with my soon to be iPad. So as long as I have my phone I could connect my iPad to it and use it's internet while driving down the freeway browsing etsy.com... JK... but you get the point. Can we do it?!

But a wifi connection should work without jumpstarting with your laptop at all. PDANet turns your iPhone into a wifi router and you should be able to connect directly from the iPad. I was able to connect to PDANet from my Wii.
I switched from wifi to USB because there were issues running wifi and 3g on the iPhone. The connection would drop out. Maybe they fixed that problem.
pdanet tethering to ipad not so much now
I have pdanet working on tethering to my laptop via usb. Re the above comment I am trying to tether wirelessly to my iPad with no success so far.
The iPad doesn't see the iPhone as a wireless modem, so far. Perhaps if I knew more about the DCHP and such?
Ideas and comments would be appreciated.
