have i screwed my iphone?

Hi, my 1st gen iphone was running 1.1.4 (ziphoned) and i upgraded to version 2.0, thinking if it didnt work i could always restore back to 1.1.4.

I thought since the iphone has been officially released in NZ with Vodafone (my carrier) all would be good (although 3G version released here not my version).

It didnt work, so tried to restore to 1.1.4 but itunes wont let me, im stuck with error message saying wont work with itunes and that i should insert the SIM to activate it, my SIM doesn't work...

i dont know what to do from here, any ideas?

Use an old version of iTunes
do a few more searches it is all explained
