google maps location works with 1.1.2 baseband
ok this is kinda hard to explain so ill make a small glossary. Google maps locate will be GML, and Locate me 3rd party apps will be LM
So I updated my iphone via offical devteam release to 1.1.3, so i still have the unlocked 1.1.2 baseband.
So i opened up google maps and clicked on the little icon in the bottom right corner, and it just would give me the spinning icon "which meant it was searching" but nothing would ever happen. and i know this is one of hte thigns that wouldnt work with 1.1.3 soft update, because you needed the 1.1.3 baseband to run that new part of google maps.. fine
Now I have installed a 3rd party app called locateme, which triangulates your location and then when you click on show in map, google maps launches and theres a needle to point out your location. wow i thought! cool
after the needle was pointed out on my map, i clicked on the GML and guess what? it showed me where i was, and it wasnt the same location as the LM position. so later on to test it, i drove downtown and at every stop light id hit the GML and it would change... why does it work after ive used the LM???
