Is it true that firmware 1.0.3 came out on tuesday (9/11)? I've got new iPhone so can't check the version, updated to latest version with iTunes, but activation doesn't work - the AppTapp installation hangs when copying files like with some other users here.
Actually you dont.
open box
take out iphone
make sure you have itunes 7.4.x
shut down itunes, and ituneshelper
plug phone in, and as soon as you see the grey apple, press and hold power AND home button together(about 20 seconds).
a yellow triangle will appear.
start itunes
restore
then folow steps.
viola!
I found a solution!
Restore iphone using itunes. it should put 1.0.2 on it.close itunes, and then reopen. let itunes see it and go to activation screen.
once there close itunes again and make sure ituneshelper is off. run AppTapp...should work fine. i have had to run AppTapp a couple of times before.
then PACAY and boom. done!
thanks carlosvaldosta, your solution worked!
but, I'm also getting the can not find files error - i'm wondering if it could be because of the iTunesMobileDevice.dll file version that was with the PAYAC (v7.3.85.0)? Maybe if restore was done with new itunes 7.4.1.2 the dll should be also the new version? or not?
Wheni run the unlock it keeps saying can not find files?? and runs thru quickly and no unlock, what am i doing wrong?
the apptapp worked one time, and now has failed again for 9 attempts
Flawless, my ass! During Step 1, a program I think was called commserver.exe crashed and now I my iphone is bricked (I opened the iphone box only an hour ago). When I try to restore using iTunes, I get an error: The iPhone 'iPhone' could not be restored. An unknown error occured (1611). Thanks
UPDATE: I called Apple. Here's how they resolved the problem:
Uninstall iTunes (no reboot)
Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support (reboot)
Intall iTunes
Restore iPhone
Hope this helps others.
I got also that error with itunes one time, try rebooting iphone and pc and re-trying the rescue a couple of times.
