any thoughts would greatly be appreciated on this 1604 error im getting when i try to restore my iphone.
Apparently that error comes up when iTunesHelper isn't running.... just restart your computer before restoring. Worked for me
till today i unlock 79 phones , 78 works perfect but i have a problem with 1 of if with 1604 error , im preaty sure not itunes problem its phone faulty in some way
thanks a lot thoma because they brought me in this iPhone the lady was here. We first tried to restore it an boom that Error. She understood it was not my fault. I think she will get a new one from the guy she bought it here in Argentina or money refund.
I will go on trying stuff..
I have the same error, anyone with a solution, please post it here.
Try with this:
Try this ...if you would like to completely Reboot the Phone..Remember this will reset your iPhone back to Factory Virgin Default... all information will be GONE.
-reboot computer
-Start up iTunes
- Control---ALt ---Del---
-Shut down iPhoneHelper.exe
-lay iPhone flat on desk
-Press and hold down HOME button
-Plug in USB cable ....Still holding Down HOME button
- Wait for iTunes to launch iPhone
-Click on RESTORE
Wait for the iPhone to Restore itself
Go back and Unlock W/ ibrickr and the then Unlock iPhone Software.

Solution
I am sure all the ones who are having this problem
we are using Windows.
This lady came to me with her iPhone and it crashed in
the 1604 error.
Solution? Plugged it to a Mac and do it there.
It worked in a blink.
Or
Turn On Apple Mobile Device in ----> Control Panel ---> Administrative ---> Services.
