[EDGE][Advice] Really Slow or not at all

So my local carrier is Cincinnati Bell Wireless. I am signed up for their unlimited message and media plan. This is not a smartphone plan but it is an internet plan. Whenever I put in a url it just sits there loading and the blue loading bar never passes the h in http. The only thing I can get a response from data wise is the weather app on the springboard. I open that and at the bottom it says updating for a little bit and then it updates the weather info and its fine. But nothing else really works. Youtube just continually displays "loading" as well. Is this just how slow it is? I let Safari load for 15 minutes trying to access google and got no progress. Someone help!

Hmm I had assumed it was edge because I know that my carrier provides it, is their another way to get to edge? Are the settings different for edge and GPRS?

Difficult to say without more info. Do you have a friend with an iPhone, using the same internet plan?. It would be an interenting comparison.

My only friend with an Iphone is a legit slave to the all powerful ATT;) I really wish I had'nt sold my HP ipaq smart phone so that I could test it with that, all the rest of my phones are Cincinnati Bell originals and work fine.

Why don't you just call your operator and ask.

Remember that even if your operator does offer edge that does not mean you will have a fast speed, also this does not means you will have coverage everywhere, most operators offer EDGE on high traffic areas and GPRS on more rural places.

Just call and ask

I have called several times, they are no use because once they can't see what phone I have and I tell them it's an unlocked iphone there is nothing they can do. They don't have info needed to troubleshoot iphone issues. I can confirm that the network is fine because I put my sim in a carrier provided phone and the web works great with decent speeds. It simply does not go anywhere when used with my iphone...What can I do?
