Did apple send me a hacked iphone?

Hey all,

I had an iphone. I did not "unlock" it, but I bypassed activation (jailbroke) it so I could use anothing AT&T sim with it, and not have to sign a 2/yr agreement.

Well, it started getting these weird.. water like spots under the screen.. so I called them, and they said I could send it to them..

I "restored" it before I sent it.. which made me nervous cause it left my iphone on the "please activate" screen when I shipped it off, which made me think.. "Oh great.. they're going to be able to tell I was up to something.. easy"


Anyways.. I got back a shiny new iphone, with 1.1.1 installed already.. I turned it on and it was already at the springboard.. I just put my sim in and it works.. PLUS youtube works.. my youtube didn't use to work!

Did apple bypass the activation on their own for me? Or what?

yes this is how they are returned to you, its factory activated and it is what the lockdownd hack is derived from.

Wow. Cool. So am I good to go? Everything seems to be working great.. I guess there really isn't a need for me to mess with it at all? Unless I want to install third party apps/tweak it just for fun.. I don't know if I want to take the risk though..


As it is now.. seeing that this phone came directly from apple.. I would be able to upgrade the firmware and everything on it, no problems.. right? *Whenever they come out with future firmware.. right now it has 1.1.1*

I might leave it unhacked after all the trouble last time people were having/and waiting.. so I can d/l future updates and stuff.. unless everytime I did that it would require re-activation?

they always return repaired phones factory activated and SIMunlocked (apparently the user*s SIM worked staright away) ???

If so, everyone would ship his iphone ASAP to apple.

It wasn't all roses.. I got home and tried to sync with itunes.. and it was trying to get me to activate.. which is weird, cause it's already working..

Anyways.. I tried to go to jailbreakme.com and download their thing, but apparently it could tell I already had at&t and didn't bother trying to jailbreak my phone.. now i'm lost in the world of third party apps having fun d/l everything i can..



Buut.. how do I get itunes to work?? and.. how do I put roms on my iphone once i downloaded the NES program??

Does that more than likely mean I have to go through the whole jailbreakme.com set up again? Which I'm assuming would require a restore first?

I would call Apple if they unlocked it, just don't mention anything about NES ;)
