you can now create your own ringtones with itunes 7.5 just convert to AAC and rename from .m4a to .m4r and drag back into iTunes. Worked for me with 1.1.2 iPhone and there is no limit to song length!!
ENJOY!!!
EDIT: It only works with FW 1.1.2

Does this work with FW 1.1.1?
I read on some other forums that it doesn't. Haven't had chance to test this yet.
EDIT: Just tested this and it doesn't work for FW 1.1.1. When I tried to sync the ringtones I got the message "file was not copied because it cannot be played on the iphone"
didn't work for me...
i was able to convert my mp3 ringtones using super as a converter...its free..just look for it.
I converted them to the ipod format....which output the files with a .mp4 extention, then I just renamed them to .m4r
At that point I selected all my new .m4r files and drag them over to iTunes ringtone folder. iTunes then let them show up in the ringtone area of the my iphone area of itunes and sync'ed them to the iphone.
Iphone running 1.1.2 and itunes 7.5
Also, if you do stuff like just rename a mp3 to m4r or some other file type to m4r it will show up in itunes ringtone folder, it just will not sync it to the phone.
I have not played with testing the length of the file to get a max size or time.
Same here, maybe we need a mecca patch for 1.1.2?
EDIT: Found it just here: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...ighlight=mecca gonna try this now
quick question fo we still have to leave a space when renaming from .m4a to .m4r because in my windows it says the file is a ringotone but when I add it back to itunes it would only show up in my music library and not in the ringtone one..
or does that not matter?
It worked with me, but the ringtone file not allow more than 30sec. If more than that it doesn't show at Custom.
