Change Wallpaper without Summerboard

Is it possible to change the background of the springboard from black to an picture without using summerboard???

quite unsatisfying but there is no other software solution available...

I have many concerns about summerboard and Im happy with my 1.1.2 (took me hours to get it run), dont want to f*** it up with some unstable alpha software.

iSwitcher is ok if you like themes, but has no background switch.

if you find something let me know...

I'm looking to do this as well. I had many problems with summerboard previously, and restored and haven't put it back on.

The best I've done is change the /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app/sbdockbg2.png to a full size wallpaper image with some transparencies to see the icon.

The problem is that the dock background is in the middle layer, the dock icons are on top, and the other icons are on the bottom. Even if we make a big fake dock, it will cover the icons, unless you add transparencies.
