Bad battery or "crazy" battery indicator ?

Well I can use iphone for more then 2 days. My usage times are aprox. 6h, so not bad.
But battery indicator goes crazy. Today in the morning (after more then 48h of using it) it showed at least 60% power level. After 30min. - 20% and then after 1 or 2 min. iphone turned off permanently with information that battery is fully drained.
This happened twice and with 1.1.1 FW.

What is more strange, after plugging it with power adapter and powering it on again, battery indicator shows that iphone is...60% charged.
Is it a faulty battery or software bug ?
Can someone confirm ?

calibrate it (full discharge by using it till it shuts down then fully charge from AC).

I did it. And now after only 1h of charging, my iphone "says" it's fully charged. Really strange :eek:

It must be a bug or a battery problem. Suckers, thats what they get for a UNremovable battery. Haha

i had the same problem, only it got worse, it started hard powering off after like 15 seconds, then when i tried to plug it in, it wouldn't charge from the usb cable ( i tried the wall plug, the car adapter, and a different cable and computer) and then it would sometimes get to the springboard, after that, i would charge via the computer and everything would work fine, untile you unplugged it from the computer (i had it connected at least 2 hours) and then it just dies again. the more i tried charging, the sooner it died when i powered it back on.

so it seems like a faulty battery, but the thing is, my casing, kinda looks tampered with, and the phone is unlocked w/ custom apps on the springboard, i'm worried that if they somehow like open it and power it up manually, that they will just tell me too bad , since there is 3rd party apps, but i cant turn it on to take them off.

does anyone have any idea about how much they will inspect my iphone? will they care about a case that looks suspicious, or are they the kinda tech ppl that just say "your right, it doesn't work, here you go, just take this refurbished one.

There is another crazy thing about battery indicator:
When I power on my iphone and go to "home screen", battery icon shows correct data for the first 3-4 sec. (so I can see that the battery is almost dead). After that time power level goes up to 80-90%.:eek: :eek: :eek:
