[Backup] Iphone music to hard drive

Ok, Story goes as follows,

My mate has an iphone, full of music, all the 8gb worth, some how manages to lose the hard drive containing the original copy's of the music, and now only has his music stored on his phone, his ENTIRE libary of music.

He now has a new hard drive, and is wondering if there is anyway to take (copy) the music from his iphone back onto his new hard drive, to save downloading all the songs again, about 8gb worth.

If anyone knows of any programs that can be used for this, or any advice, please post, bear in mind, he has a hacked iphone running 1.1.1, week 27

Before you do anything, scp the iTunes_Control folder over so, worst case scenario, you can just copy it back. Secondly, if any of that music was itunes music, they are usually pretty generous about letting you redownload if you shoot them an email (or is that what you're talking about when you say you want to save time downloading them again?)

You might try fooling around with itunes, I was in this same position myself months ago and I vaguely remember itunes helping in some way, but be very careful that you don't inadvertently erase the phone by saying yes to that question it asks you about switching libraries.
