<B>How is the iPhone on T-Mobile (USA)?</B>

Hi.

Is the $5.99 T-mobile web plan unlimited amounts of EDGE data? Can someone confirm please?

Scary thing happened to me- I am still an AT&T subscriber but didn't want to shell out for their iPhone plan since I have free WiFi wherever I need to be in New York. However, on their website, they show my instrument as being an Apple iPhone!!! I keep changing it to some other device but it keeps changing it back :eek:

I will happily switch to T-Mobile once I know the deal with the $5.99 data plan. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

They know what your phone is from it's SNR section of your IMEI. The cell phone companies know what phone you have from a code that is transmitted when you use it. I was a bit disconcerted to call T-Mobile and have their technical support say "we see you are using an iPhone". But I found them to be very knowledgeable about it and very helpful.

As far as the $6 plan, you need to have a proxy into the phone and there are rumors that it's not unlimited and that it doesn't work in all markets. It's also a fair bit slower (at least where I am) than either AT&T's EDGE or T-Mobile's $20 unlimited EDGE plan. But yes, it works on iPhones.
