[Article] Interesting article about iphones on Forbes
This might be interesting. On the latest copy of Forbes there was an article about Steve Waldis and Synchronoss.
Steve Waldis runs Synchronoss. Syncronoss provides the software that AT&T uses EXCLUSIVELY to allow users to register and switch on their phone. Everytime someone activates their iPhone properly, Syncronoss gets $8.
Which means, (i think) This is, literally, the company that wrote the code to activate your iphone. I would think this would be also the firm that controls all the unlocks in Europe as well.
The article also states that about 18% of 1.4M iPhone in the market are unlocked. 252,000 iPhones are floating around unlocked in the world. Syncronoss lost 2million dollars in sales.
Anyone know what the technology behind Syncronoss is?
