Another SMS problem

Hi,

I am also having problems receiving txt messages on my new iPhone....here are the details.

Version is 0.2
Jailbreak and activated using the app called wiNstaller
then used iBrick to upload AnySim v1.01
ran app and unlocked it fine, accepted my UK O2 sim card :)
made some phone calls, sent some SMS all OK

but never received any kind of SMS back, i have tried deleteing sms.db and reseting the phone but didnt work.

i have re-loaded iPhone1,1_1.0.2_1C28_Restore.ipsw and tried the unlock again but it knows it is already unlocked.

anyone have any suggestions?

alex98_82, you've done everything that you should have done to resolve this problem. Tell me, can you read through messages that you've sent via the SMS.app? Also, how are you deleting the SMS.db and where are you deleting it from? Have you modified in anyway the SMS.app or deleted anything by accident? Did you try reinstalling it?

Finally, have you tried opening up your SMS.db in a sqlite program and examine the contents?

Assuming that you've done everything correctly, you may want to install aSMS.app on your phone and check out what you find in the inbox.

Sorry for all the questions, but I must say that I'm stumped.

This really does sound strange.
- So you can both send SMS's to friends phones? and you know they get delivered.
- You can see your messages in the SMS application under your friend's names
- You can export the 'sms.db' file to your computer and browse your sent messages ok?

- You know your friend has sent a SMS back but it never arrives?
1. I'd ask your friend to turn on delivery notifications and check if their message is sent ok.
2. Perhaps it's releated to the Service Center Number. See this post to set the SMSC:

3. You could also try putting a different SIM card in the iPhone (but from a different network). This will check if the problem is to do with your provider rather than the iPhone itself.

I followed the steps here from the wiki, however I don't remember if I had to redo the unlocking process. I think I just did steps 1-4. Do a search for the fls and eep files. bbupdater and the fls and eep files were uploaded to /usr/bin on the iphone. Don't forget to cd /usr/bin:

Everything worked - but incoming sms didn't work. So i found this solution and tried it - worked perfectly.

First get your EEP file from the firmware you've flashed (i.e. 1.0.2 today). We cannot link to the EEP files for copyright reasons.

I solved the problem and now no issues at all include incomming SMS

1- launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

2- bbupdater -f ICE03.14.08_G.fls

3- bbupdater -e ICE03.14.08_G.eep

4- launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

the IMEI should change to something like 004999010640000 and the iPhone will not accept any SIM if not start from step 1 again

>> Note: my IMEI did not change - why should it ? I had my tmobile sim in all the time and it worked.

5- do the unlock process again (even if your iPhone HW Unlocked)

6. process restart and enjoy your bugs free iPhone

What i have tried after your suggestions (thankyou for helping!)

Deleting sms.db from /var/root/library/SMS/sms.db
I use iBrickr to delete the file and then reboot the iphone
this didnt fix the problem

i then tried adding the message center manually using
*5005*7672*the number of your sms service center#
the command applies the message centre number OK but still no incoming sms's

next i installed aSMS, (for some reason cant get remote access working) using the iphone's safari browser i can connect to aSMS and browse my sent items fine. But nothing in the inbox :(

going to try the other option now.....watch this space
