Apple's new update has left a bad taste in my mouth and Im thinking of abandoning the iphone. I unlocked it to use it with tmobile but with apples new update and future updates I'm feeling like they are really trying to get rid of me. Furthermore I'm slowly realizing that apple will not stand by their product if I using it with someone other network even though I paid full price. I'm really confused and thinking about getting rid of the apple and going back to a regular phone.
If hopes were dupes - fears may be liars !

Why not just use your unlocked iPhone, never update it, and be happy? You still have a kick ass phone on t-mobile, jumping ship is just stupid.
and thats why u cant be a captain

u should of known being a unlocked iphone is a unwanted person, read up before buying stuff lol
i'll trade you an unlocked palm treo 750 for your unwanted iphone. :)
DISCLAIMER: I am all in favor of unlocking.
That said, realistically you shouldn't have a bad taste in your mouth. You bought a device that had well publicized constraints (A&TT/Lock) based on the ability to circumvent its intended use by an unauthorized (but kick*ss) group of developers. Apple isn't trying to get rid of you, they just don't have the usual amount of pity for you as you "broke the rules" (so to speak).
The fact that through the normal course of product development, the "circumvention" has been (probably temporarily) removed isn't Apple's fault any more than it is the dev team's fault for not anticipating it.
If you truly love the iPhone you have 2 choices as I see it... 1) Pay what it takes to get out of your T-Mobile contract and switch to AT&T (assuming coverage and a non-bricked iPhone), or 2) Just hang in there like the rest of the faithful and hope the dev team comes to our collective rescue once again.
If 1 or 2 don't work for you, then I guess it's off to ebay for option 3...
I think you guys are missing the overall point of the OP. He is saying that he doesn't want to deal with the constant cat and mouse between us and Apple. Even if the dev team cracks 1.1.1 (more a matter of when, nothing is uncrackable :) ) there will always be 1.2.1, and 1.3.1, you get my point. Apple is not going to turn around tomorrow and apologize for chasing us all off and promise never to do it again. They're going to turn around tomorrow and once again remind us we're all SOL in the long run if they want us to be.
I think that the Apple community has learned a harsh lesson these past few weeks. We all viewed Apple as the Utopian company of our dreams, the one technology company we all could trust, the one brand recognizable to even the computer illiterate as the pinnacle of quality. Now, as if to remind us once again that Apple is a business, not a religion, Jobs and his minions have given us a sharp slap on the face, and now we all just feel stupid for trusting what was essentially a wolf in sheep's clothing. Who's fault is it that we are all so pissed off? Ours, for thinking that Apple would do anything other than pursue the almighty dollar.
I don't know about you guys, but when Apple gave us all that $100 credit for the price drop, that was the last time I felt good about my decisions to buy Apple products. Now, I just want to trade in all my macs and ipods and iphone in anger for believing something that could never be true.
C'mon dude, who really needs the new stuff in the 1.1.1 when the price is get locked again, and no 3rd party apps, use the 1.0.2 + 3rd party Apps and be happy, the only update that worths its when the iPhone get the capability of take video, copy and paste and use flash, meanwhile you really dont need to update, just tweak the iPhone ;)
