In Venezuela we can't buy iphones officially... Everyone's bought one and got it unlocked or bought it already unlocked... I unlocked mine with iLIBERTY (firmware 1.1.4) but I have no idea if it's 1st gen or 2nd gen... anyway I'll have to wait for the unlocker for the upgrade of 2.0 right?

quick reply before ur thread gets closed....... first generation iphone: runs over edge network, iphone 3G: obviously runs over 3Gnetwork. u r more likely to have a first generation iphone since there is no sim unlock yet known for iphone 3g. at least not confirmed.
thank you... I was a bit confused.. Didn't know the 2nd gen referred to the 3G iphone (in other forums they called them iphone and iphone 3G to separate them and that's why I couldn't find the difference... )
