I would just like to make a mention that the £10 per month bolt on for unlimited data and access to The Cloud WiFi hotspots is a really good deal for old iPhone users :D That is if you hardly use the phone for anything else.
Be interesting to know if an o2 simplicity sim will work without it being hacked...

edit - the customer service bloke said the normal web bolt on is acceptable.

the o2 customer service bloke said to leave it a few days as there is three days work maintance work on the activation servers
edit - going to try anyway. ive started the restore process. do i need to worry if about english v us firmware? - i want it to default to o2 rather than at&t i guess?
Put the O2 sim in before you connect to iTunes and it might show O2 and not AT&T. Firmwares are not country specific.
edit: doesn't work. They must use IMEI to identify which carrier sold the phone.
