Default previously activated AT&T iphone! IAsign on PC worked!

I am able to successfully activate my old Cingular SIM card using the windows PC.

If you need help let me know. I am writing a step by step procedure for my own records including picture of my command windows. I don't really want to duplicate the great efforts of other who are working more harder than me to finally unlock the iphone. but if you need it or you have any question Let me know:

the thing about my iphone is as follows:

a)I bought the iphone from apple
b)I activated the iphone through itune and att. call it offical activation if you wish!
    c) I used jailbreaker to customize my ringtones
    c) I called att a week later and canceled my att contract. (before the 14 days grace period)
    d) my phone ipod, wifi was working after the cancelation of the contract.
    e) I gather all the necessary files to activate my SIM (including the plist files which i generated at https://ookoo.org/iphone/iasign.php). I just hooked up the iphone to my PC. Stopped itune and then executed the iphoneinterface and activated my SIM. I did not need to deactivate. I just replaced the /System/Library/Lockdown/iPhoneActivation.pem in my iphone with the new one in the instruction for both mac/and windows and then executed th executable generated by https://ookoo.org/iphone/iasign.php with my plist file.

    it worked!

Thanks for instructions, i will be doing the same thing soon.

So you didn't had to deactive and activate again? (hacktheiphone guide states you may have to deactivate the phone)
How about Youtube? AT&T activated iPhone have no problems running Youtube via wifi (with no SIM), does it still work for you?

    Hey,

    question wadtandalti,

Did you have to give up your old ATT phone number? Or when you canceled your contract you had to give up your old number and get a brand new one? I called ATT to do the same thing with my current, existing iphone contract and I was told that if they canceled my contract, I would have to use another phone number... also been told that once a number is assigned to an iphone account, it will remain an iphone account number for 2 years and connot be transfered to a regular phone. Does that information proceed?

    Thanks.

wifi & edge both works fine. however, youtube is not working... on both EDGE and wifi -- is this normal?

Well, the youtube worked just fine on wifi. On edge it did not work because I had no data plan on my previous account.

One thing I noticed after the activation of the SIM, is a more frequent need to reset the wifi, (i.e turn wifi off, ignore the current network and then rejoin) I did that sofar 3 times since I activated the new SIM. may be because I moved a way from the hotspot and hence the phone try the edge, and it fails, cache the message. resting the wifi should help you.

Regarding the deactivation and reactivation instructions ( as in hacktheiphone guide). Actually I ignored them completely and just went and moved the iPhoneActivation.pem to the /System/Library/Lockdown folder in the iphone. It really did not make any sense to deactivate and reactivate again. All you will do is, you will overwrite your existing iPhoneActivation.pem file in the iphone with the new iPhoneActivation.pem file from the hackint0sh team. anyway, i did not want to loose my apple and att&t activation. I already added the ringtones, customized the icons, played with the iphone files and API. So I took the risk and it worked. I don't see a reason why it will not work! I guess, you already have a guy who risk $650 to prove it.

Regarding AT&T contract, I actually called them and said I want to cancel the iphone and switch back to my old phone. They did it right away. They deactivated the iphone and then reactivated my old SIM. (which is the SIM I used to hack the iphone with). note you have to give them the number in the SIM. I guess they will not have a record for it in their system. So if they tell you to buy a new SIM, tell them you did and then give them your origional non-iphone SIM.

Noway they have the right to attach a phone number to specific phone, iphone or not. This is your number and you are entitled to it. As far as you will cancel within the grace period you should be fine.

Do this, call once, if you did not like the answer, then call again and again. A lot of the customer support people are not that familiar with the rules and regulations and they mixed what will work in the iphone and what not work.

but ultimately you will find someone who will help.

Remember, if you have your iphone already officially activated and working , you can simply moved its SIM card to any cingular non-iphone and it will work. Try it.
