Preparing an iPhone for repair (UK)
I need to get my iPhone sent off for repairs and I guess it needs to be restored so it doesnt look like it's been jailbroken, etc.
Can I just restore it? Do I need to reset the baseband or something like that?

If you upgraded it, You'll have to virginize and restore its original firmware to put it back to its OTB state.
They will be less suspicious if the iPhone is software clean.

By virginize I presume you mean more than "simply restore". I don't intend on getting it fixed under warranty as it broke by getting wet, which they will discover and wont cover it.
If I pay for it to be repaired, will they take it from ANY state to OTB again? Surely if you are paying for a repair, they'll do whatever needs to be done to restore it?

Repairing means they will fix your hardware/software issue, but they are clearly not responsible for the data loss. They will simply put it to its factory default.
The biggest problem is, if it was a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 with 3.9BL, they will certainly give it back to you with 1.1.2 BL4.6 installed.

Data loss isn't my main priority, ill back my stuff up before I send it off. It is at version 1.0.2 at the moment, I wonder what they will give it back to me as...
