I do not want to sign a 2 year contract with ATT, but want to have the Edge working on my iPhone.

Any ideas on what to use, or should I just sign the damn contract?

To (legitimately) activate the iPhone requires a connection to iTunes and the internet. One cannot use the service as a "Go Phone" where someone picks up minute cards and loads them in.

The other alternative is the "Go Phone Pick Your Plan" requires a debit/credit card. You won't be presented this offer unless your credit history is *really* poor.

You'll have to enter information including YOUR *SS#* for them to run a credit check through your iTunes/internet connected computer.

Just goto apple's site -> iphone and there are links to AT&T's service plans. From there, you can view rates and this "go phone pick your plan"

Also: Since you are registered with this forum, the search function is active.. try hitting a few keywords into it.

No , you'r not blind, just stupid. if you read sticky threads you'll notice that you can use other cingular/at&t sims doing some basic hacking, also how to activate edge.

Using other SIMs:

Windows version

Mac version

If you want AT&T service, walk into the AT&T store, tell them you want AT&T service, but you are not willing to give then your SSN. They can't require it. When I did that they gave me the option to sign up on a pay-as-you-go plan. I later decided I preferred T-Mobile, but it worked fine for a while.

no help ? are you fucking stupid? thats the method to get any at&t/cingular sim working ( prapaid included ) . if you want edge just type EDGE in the search box. Not that hard ha? tx for the invitation but i prefer sucking your mom's vagina.

When activating your iphones in itunes put 999-99-9999 has your ssn you will fail the credit check and have the options to get pay-as-you-go plan in which don't have 2 year contact. I don't think you can get a prepaid w/ the iphone.
