Default Prepaid Blackberry Plan on Cingular...is there a way?

Long story short, I have a blackberry activated on prepay with Cingular/AT&T...when using the blackberry, I don't get charged anything, but when I put it into a normal phone, I get charged...I don't know if it has anything to do with the IPs in the "Service books" from the blackberry...I wonder if you could do the proxy trick with it....any advice will be appreciated...thanks.

Probably not. Blackberry data runs on a separate APN (Access Point Name -- think separate virtual network, if you will), and the servers on that APN generally only accept data from authenticated Blackberry devices (based on PIN numbers and so forth).

Chances are you'll need to either switch to a normal data plan, or a "Blackberry Connect" plan if your provider offers it ("Blackberry Connect" plans are designed for devices like Windows Mobile and Symbian phones with the Blackberry Connect tool, and provide coverage for both types of data).

I see...man that sucks. See with Cingular, they don't allow a blackberry plan on prepay service. I had to "convince" them to add it to the account and it worked. So now that it's there...I wanted to take it out of my blackberry and pop it into the iPhone and have it work, but with the way you explained it, it doesn't seem possible at all....unless it's an IP/APN/User name/password combination that will eventually get it to work. wap.cingular as the apn with the usual cingular1 and wap@cingulargprs.com actually uses the money on the account...
