Lightbulb Possible way to Unlock Iphone for Rogers

    Hey guys,

As you all may know, over at http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/ind...itle=Main_Page they have created a hack called iASign which allows the iPhone to work with any ATT SIM card. The way this works is every sim associated with ATT has a signed code which is the same to work on the ATT network. Now this hack allows even virtual carriers to work with iPhone.

Now, a few years back Rogers used ATT as their backbone, and hence I believe used their same signed code. I still have a SIM card that says Rogers ATT on it and it works in any cell phone, so i'm assuming whatever that signed code was it is still the same. I don't have an iphone to try it out, but for anyone who has an iphone, try the iASign hack and if you have an old sim that says Rogers ATT on it, try that chip, I believe it may work. Make sure it's the older SIM cards that specifically say ATT on it.

It may not be that specific about the SIM. I have seen one iphone registered on the Rogers network in the hands of an apple employee. Thats all I can say really without risking someones job but they did show me that it was on Rogers.

What do you mean 'registered on the Rogers network'? If you mean roaming, it certainly can register itself on the Rogers network when you roam into Canada, and anybody with a AT&T plan can do that (no Go/Prepaid users though).

If you're talking about registering a Rogers SIM, well, that's something else.

I have one of those SIMs, I'm using it right now in my BlackBerry - it's one of the original Rogers AT&T sim cards. If I had a working windows binary of iASign, I could try it out.

We are testing this at the moment on an Iphone. I have a Sim issued in July of 2002 that is Rogers/At&t. We ran it yesterday on another Iphone and got the Signal bar to say "No Service" but realized that we missed a step.......stay tuned

I've got a Rogers/ AT&T sim as well. I'm dying to know if this works.

If so... sign me up for an iPhone!

I have an iphone, a intel mac and a rogers sim. I could try this tonight.

Couple of questions. I have it working for wifi now, do i need to restore to orginal first?

If it doesnt work, can I get it back to where it is today...wifi & ipod?

    LMK, thoughts etc.

It must be an OLD Rogers SIM that says Rogers/AT&T on it in order for you to test this out. Newer Rogers SIMs (sans AT&T logo) do not work with this method.

Apparently it works according to the comments posted by this user on Engadget - http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/18/i...ments/6002237/
