Yes it is possible if you already have the firmware file that you want to use.

search for the firmwares on the forum there are tons of links floating around. i believe its in one of the stickies in the unlocking sub. instructions on how to do it are there too. Or just open up one of the hundreds of guides to unlocking the phone and you are required to restore using the fw image on your harddrive. cheers

Unhappy iNdependence caused constant reboot problems

I have a similar problem that I think was caused by iNdependence...
    Here are the details.

I hope someone can advize on how to get out of this constant reboot...

    I have a new iphone (firmware 1.0.2)
that i did not activate. I used iNdependence (i have a macbook pro, intel and intunes 7.3.2) and it caused the iphone to go into constant reboot.
I can get it to the yellow triangle (Please connect to iTunes) and perform a restore from iTunes but the restore does not do anything. it still is stuck in constant reboot.

Any advice for this situation would be appreciated.
I downloaded AppTapp nstaller but it says it only works with iTunes 7.4 which I can not find a download of so I have not run AppTapp yet.

    please help

Download the restore image file 1.0.2

Go to iTunes and connect iPhone

Hit SHIFT + click restore ... browse to the file that you've downloaded and it will restore.

Please spend some time and search the forums.

This is a very old thread and Apple has totally changed the restore system between iOS 1.0.2 and iOS 4.3.3

Now - with new iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad models released since mid 2009 - you need a SHSH signing blob from Apple to restore iOS on your device. This means you generally do need internet connectivity during restore. There is a workaround via TinyUmbrella (but this requires planning and requesting the SHSH blob in advance).

There are plenty of other threads that discuss SHSH and TinyUmbrella, lets keep this one focused on iOS 1.0.x restore (which is considerably different)
