Is it possible to replace firmware without Itunes?
Ive got an iphong 3g which was running firmware v3.0. I jailbroke it with no problems using redsn0w. After I did that I tried tried to erase all the data on the iphone using the restore to factory settings in settings. This seemed to work fine (the progress bar under the apple logo completed) but when I tried to turn the Iphone on again but It froze on the apple logo with the quicktime loading logo frozen aswell.
Now my iphone is frozen, itunes dosnt recognise it at all (not even in restore or dfu mode). I tried re-jailbreaking it in the hopes that this would replace the firmware but ive since come to learn that redsnow just patches the firmware and dosnt replace it. When I try to re-jailbreak it it just freezes in the "activating" process.
I know that it was pretty stupid to try to jailbreak it again and now im pretty sure im dealing with corrupted firmware. Im just wondering is there any program I can use to replace the firmware without itunes. Or any other solutions anyone can think of. The phone isnt under guarantee so bringing it to an apple shop is out of the question. Am I screwed?
Edit: Sorry, forgot to say I run windows XP SP3. I do have access to friends mackintosh though if any solutions require this...
Thanks in advance...

Ok update: Tried to jailbreak with redsn0w again, worked this time. Still have same problem with turning on Iphone though. Its funny because my pc detects the Iphone in restore mode (looking in Device Manager) but ive tried reinstalling itunes, tried installing different versions etc, and none of them will detect my Iphone. Any suggestions?
Ok, installed itunes on a different pc, it detected the iphone and restored the firmware, so were ok now...
