Default Poll: Suggestion to stop lazy posts

Just a suggestion to help clean up the forums. For a while now, there has been too much "junk" out there, making it difficult and fustrating to find relevant information.

One of the other forums I frequent has a 30/30 rule. New members must be registered for at least 30 days, and have a minimum of 30 posts before they can start their own topics. They also can only post once every 15 minutes as well.

Maybe something not that extreme, but something similar to it would help promote people to actually search, and contribute making this forum a better place for all.

    What does everyone think?

as you say not as extreme. New members should be encouraged to search and read before posting.

I do not believe that is an option with Vbulletin. There may be a hack somewhere. Here is my idea. Knowing the admin panel in vb, I know there is a way to set up different levels of membership. I would suggest that there be a seperate level set for all new users and have their posts moderated exclusively by one or two mods. Or even go as far to setup subforums specificaly for new members. I know it would be a headache at first, but I would think that after everything was in place and running it would not be as bad as moderating the entire foum. I know you can set your forums so that you have to have a certain number of posts to be able to post in a particular forum. I think that just about anything you do to seperate, moderate or single out a particular group of members will alienate people no matter what. It is kind of a double edged sword.

What can be done is this,

Make a Tutorial forum with all the must read sticky threads. New members must go to that forum (wouldn't have access to the other forums) and reply to all those must read threads (make a min post count of 15 or something). Only after doing this they'll be able to access the regular forums.

    Lightbulb simpler

Make a script that would enforce "[1.1.1 OTB] [Problem] (Music.app) not working!!!" format for titles. Don't tell newbies that when posting; this information is and should be in the sticky. Those who read stickies will find out and will be able to post.
