The Party Ends on Sept 5th??
http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/31/a...september-5th/
The linked story pretty much confirms that Apple is making changes to the iPhone on September 5th. What are the chances that the geohot, turbosim, and virtual software unlock stop working after applying the next update? Is there a way to avoid updating the phone or will each new version of iTunes force users to update the iPhone firmware / software?

I guess this is why they are releasing it for free tomorrow.. so we can be teased for a couple of days before the update.

Usually, updates are opt-in.
But a new version of iTunes could force an iPhone update.
I don't think they will break turboSIM and hw unlock.
The benefits for Apple would be very small, and I don't think they would use their resources fighting the community developments.

The only guarantee of a future update not locking down the phone is a hardware unlock!
It can't be patched! Everything else can be shut by Apple!

Let's make it clear.
Hardware unlock can be easily blocked out by a patch if it updates the baseband. So there is a big chance when doing hardware unlock, that someday you will lose it because of a patch.

Shut up, why else some people lost their unlock when upgrading from 101 to 102? Because it updated the baseband and overwrote the code.

You don't understand what I was speaking of and also being highly impolite.

I guess we got a bunch of Apple technicians in this forum, thats cool. You guys speak like you know for a fact what your talking about, when your taking educated guesses. Just say .. well I think this will be the case .. not .. "I KNOW FOR SURE" you didn't make the phone. A HAND full of people in this forum really know and understand how the phone operates, even less know some of the code behind the software. Don't pretend you know when your just a sarcastic 17 year old who has a rich mom/dad who buys you iphones every 3 days cause you dont understand Geo's unlock.
