Default OS3.1.3 and Native MMS 2G

Hey all, I'm new here, but am looking forward to being active in the hacking community. As a general inquiry rather than a cry for help, I wanted to ask if any 2G users had updated their OS to 3.1.3 and tried the Native MMS tweak from cydia. I tried installing it on my 2G with 3.1.3, but, it didn't work, unsurprisingly considering it is a new OS build.
With Native MMS installed, my phone couldn't find my cell network(AT&T), and would only display "searching..." where the carrier name should be.
An uninstall fixed it with no problems.
Perhaps ATT wasn't too pleased with the jump in bandwidth and decided Apple should patch the workaround for them.
Also, despite a couple hours of searching, I was unable to find any similar cases or relevant information.
So my question is, did I screw up, or will there be a new release sometime in the future?
    Cheers!
    Josh

Yes you screwed up, maybe there will be an updated release but it is *very unlikely* 3.1.3 is a minor update that mostly just closes jailbreak, unlock and security holes.

The MMS tweak requires reversing quite a lot of the iPhone's code to find the correct place to patch this feature on.

If Apple changed CommCenter (and they likely did) then the location and required value of the tweak would have changed.

Your incorrect patching has given you a corrupted CommCenter file which is why you can't connect to the network until you uninstalled the patch.

The hackers with skills to reverse this code and find the right places to patch are not interested in doing this work for each minor update. There were no MMS patches for 3.0.1 or for 3.1 only for 3.0 and then for 3.1.2.

You are lucky in that you can safely downgrade your 2G to 3.1.2 again but it is something to keep in mind for next time you rely on a clever patch that may only ever be supported for a specific version of the iPhone OS.
