In order for IPSF software to work must I jailbreak my phone? If so, what is jailbreaking exactly and how is it done ?

Since you must be able to install an APP in your phone, jailbreaking it comes implicit.

And yes, as far as I know, you need a jailbreaked iPhone in order to install the IPSF software.
