My first post and maybe one that's a little obsure, but....

I've unlocked my iPhone and am using an Orange UK sim in it.

Orange has it's own web portal which usually works on most handsets. Trouble is, when I navigate there, it now states that I need to be using an Orange handset to get onto it.

Has anyone else had any issues with similar 'portals' on different carriers? Or anyone using an Orange sim and managed to get this to work? I only ask as it has usefull things like train times on!

imho no great loss but i imagine it's to do with the fact that Orange portal is now free on orange... i don't know how they indentify the phones but they obviously do.

This is true, although the portal has some nice things like cinema listings etc.

I think it has something to do with the IP settings when connecting to GPRS/Edge. Is there anyway to change the IP settings for the Edge account?
