Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!
iPhone 2G with FW 3.1 and no MMS
Geo99M6Z- There is a noexec in fstab for /private/var It is preventing you from running the script.
fstab is locate in /etc. You will need to edit it from
/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw, noexec 0 2
/dev/disk0s1 / hfs rw 0 1
/dev/disk0s2 /private/var hfs rw 0 2
Make sure to remove the comma and the noexec. Then reboot your iPhone.
I used winscp to access the file and edit it.
Once you complete this you will be able to run the 1.1.3 installer app.
anyone knows how to change carrier logo in 1.1.3 for non AT&T users? it's easy in 1.1.2 i just need to edit some entries in SpringBoard file and replace t-mobile carrier logo with my custom one and reboot. it seems that it has change in 1.1.3 now, i have tried replacing files in /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/ but still to no avail..
if anyone can figure this out please kindly post it here. thanks!

ok.. i managed to figure out how to change the carrier logo for non at&t user..
1. copy /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Unknown.bundle/carrier.plist in your computer
2. open it in a plist editor(i use plist editor pro for mac) and view it in xml format
3. change t-mobile strings with the carrier strings that shows in your phone(in my case it is etisalat so i changed t-mobile with etisalat)
4. upload and overwrite the original file including your modified .png's
that's it.. enjoy!
Hey guys..first post on here. I did the 1.1.3 JB last night, everything was working fine, except OpenSSH and SummerBoard wouldnt uninstall in AppTap, so that I could get them working right. I read some people downloaded the "1.1.3 OpenSSH Fix" app, but I did not see that listed in my AppTap, and I did not want to bother you guys with stupid questions from a newb. So I found a downgrade tutorial to go from 1.1.3 back to 1.1.1 . My intentions were to go back to 1.1.1, Jailbreak it, then make I sure I uninstalled EVERY app I had installed, then re-do the 1.1.3JB and voila, ID have no problems with OpenSSH, Summerboard, and my precious Doodles theme. The tutorial I used said this :
Obviously I did not want to lose my phone functionality, so I attempted to determine whether or not I had the right bootloader, but the tutorial wasnt clear (at least not to me) as to how to do this. I did my own research, and one site said that if your iPhone was 1.0.2OTB or 1.1.1OTB, then you will have version 3.9. I fit into this category, so I decided to go ahead with the downgrade. Went through the process, and everything went smoothly. Once I resotred contacts, etc. from my last iTunes backup, and everything powered back on....no phone service!!! It wouldn't work for calls or Edge (obv.). SO I guess I didnt have the right bootloader? In any case, at that point I was forced to go back to 1.1.3 from Apple so that my calls will work, as that is most important. After all, it IS aphone. So..I guess I will just have to go legit. For now. If anyone can think of anything I may have done wrong, or any steps that I may have left out which would have left my phone w/o functionality in 1.1.1 after a downgrade, please let me know, as I really do miss my AppTapp. Besides, whats the point in being able to have multiple home screens, when you only have 13 icons?
The process detailed here is for those of you that have the version 3.9 bootloader on your iPhone. If you do not know how to determine your bootloader version then read this flowchart. For those of you with the version 4.6 bootloader, you can downgrade also, you will just lose phone functionality.
Thanks for all your help in advance.
i just noticed that in UiCtl the service COM.APPLE.CRON is red(disabled)...should i leave it that way or enable it??What is it exactly?
Does this 1.13 jailbreak support film rentals
In my view the one feature I care about is to rent films
I can download them to the pc but in 1.12 you can't copy them to your iphone or Ipod touch
Does this hybrid version support film rentals ??
A Lot of people are buying iphone's right now, and the version 1.1.3 is the version that probably will it the Major of European countries...
There will be great demand for the 1.1.3 jaibreake and sim unlock.
If what is said here is true, that the jailbreak for the new iphone's isn't on the way, then that's very very bad news, I'm from Portugal, a small country it's true, but where the number of phone per capita is 2 for 1 ...
A message to the people responsible for this project. "Is there any work already being done? It is wise to think that the 1.1.3 new phones will have a jail and sim lock e next month at time of the SDK ?"
Thanks and sorry for the BAD English.
Thanks. That worked. BUT, when I tried to update the Installer.app package when I went into Installer. Phone rebooted and the lovely picture came up to "plug -> iTunes"..

Oh, and when I would try the Installer.app Update I got the "script execution failed" error again.
After restoring to 1.1.1, I was able to browse http://www.jailbreakme.com and jailbreak 1.1.1.
Next, I executed iBrickr (jailbreak 1.1.3) that worked. Still got the "script execution failed", but after 10 minutes phone booted (this process took another 5-10 minutes) and voila, had 1.1.3 jailbreak.
But, since I couldn't get Google Maps Locate Me, or actual Locate Me App to work, or Navizon... going back to 1.1.1.
Here's a tip prior doing all the 1.1.3 jailbreak, etc.
If you have a server with SSH on it, rsync, etc.
open up a SSH to your iPhone.
execute: pwd (make sure you are in /var/
execute: rsync -av --exclude='*.m??' * uid@your_ssh_server:/path/to_save/files
Your setting, email, pics, contacts, etc will be backed up.
