O2 (UK) edge icon?
Hi Guys,
I have a USA 1.0.2 unlocked iphone on vodafone UK, and next to the operator name at the top of the iphone display I get the E symbol, this disappears when wi fi is switched on which I understand is normal.
I connected an O2 1.1.2 phone last night, and next to the operator logo all I get is a blue square, I can still get email and browse with this symbol, but shouldn't I be getting the E symbol the same as my vodafone iphone?
What does this blue square represent, couldn't find it anywhere in the manual?
regards

It means you have an internet connection, just not edge speed. Probably GPRS.

Has anyone with a UK IPHone seen a 'E'? Maybe it detects Edge (unlike the US version). Every other phone does... :-)

If there is Edge coverage in your area then you get the E if not you get only a blue square. Where I leave I get a blue square but when I go to London I get the E. Is a fix with the new firmware because UK is not fully covered with Edge.

o2 never mentioned that. They only have coverage of about 30% on edge which is rubbish .

OK,
So here in Reading (Berks), RG1, RG5 and RG6 there is no 'E'. I have a US phone but my workmate just picked one up.
