I search the forums but cannot seem to find how to get edge/gprs working, i have a uk iphone and done the jailbreak to make it work with a o2 pay and go sim however when i try and use edge it says error not subscribed??

Mate you need a pay monthly contract!

Edge and GPRS doesnt work on o2 pay as you go. You will only get the o2 wap pages!

cheers i already got a orange contract so might port to simplicity or wait it out till they anysim unlock works with the o2 iphone to work on orange. however i got cloud working on my o2 pay and go sim thats a bonus

Am I right in saying that you can use a normal (non apple tariff) o2 sim in a Jailbroken UK 1.1.2 firmware iphone without having unlocked the phone?

The unlock for the UK iphone looks likes its a while away due to the base band on the out of box UK phones.

I have a 9 month Orange contract so I didnt want to sign up for the daft pricing on the O2 iphone tariff, but if an normal O2 sim works fine then that's an option for me.

Please confirm that the normal O2 sim works in the UK 1.1.2 phone.

m8 im in the same boat i got a few months left on my orange contract so i just bought a prepaid o2 online sim card if you go to the o2 store it £4.99 but if u said u want to top.up £15 rite there u get the sim card for free which give you 500 free texts and the £15 to spend on calls or bolt ons which is quite good.

The simplicity things looks ok as well.

...So, to clarify, your UK iphone 1.1.2 is jailbroken and works with a normal O2 sim??? Was the jailbreak easy? Which way did you do it?

took bout 30 minutes i read word for word, easy to do. yeh virgin iphone purchased from o2 or cpw.

take you old phone as they activate for u instore for £15 u get the sim and £15 in credit make sure u ask for o2 online sim from a o2 store.

it in the unlock thread on this forum.

dont say to the o2 store ur putting the o2 pay and go sim in the iphone btw as they prob wont sell if they know ur know activating on a iphone tariff
