Not so fixed after all
Hi guys,
I recently had my iPhone fall off a surface about 1.2m high and its screen shatter into about a million pieces. Luckily I was insured, but for £60 and a 2-4 week wait for a repair i wasn't so keen.
For this reason I attempted to replace the screen myself. The phone was still fully functioning. I ordered the replacement screen and digitizer off Parts4iPods for about £27, and earlier, after it arrived, set about fixing it. It took about 3 hours, and, apart from damaging some of the rubber seal around the edge of the screen, and some slightly unruly connectors refusing to stay in place, it went roughly as it was supposed to.
Having put the phone back together, I get to see my beloved homescreen completely free of cracks, and rejoice in my technological know-how saving the day again.
However shortly after I swiped across the lock screen I became suddenly aware that the touch sensor had gone completely out of whack. Now on Springboard when I touch something, it is sensed one icon to the left, and ridiculously, on the left, even wraps round off the screen back to the right side. The dock icons detect only when i touch almost exactly 1cm above the top of them.
I get the feeling I'm going to have to just face the music, lob it in a river, and pay the £60 for a new one.
Unless anybody has any ideas?

I think I might know what I've done wrong now.. I bought a 3G digitizer rather than a 3GS one. I'm assuming that will be the root of my problem?
