did you try singaja's hand edit of the mac-address?
I'm kinda wondering if anything would then work?

I know that when the no wifi appeared on my phone it was because of a loss of mac address.
What I forgot to check at the time, is that the ifconfig still displayed the wifi module just without a mac address.

can any of you with the no-wifi confirm that through the terminal 'ifconfig' does/doesn't show the wifi card.
you can do a dump of the ifconfig like so at the terminal:
    ifconfig > myconf.txt

Then simply download the myconf.txt and post it up here
