    Default No voicemail notification.

I have an iphone 3GS with IOS 4.1(8b117) and modem firmware of 06.15.00. It was jailbroken when I bought it and I have no idea which tool was used. My issue is that I do not receive any voicemail notifications. I am in Costa Rica on the ICE network. I have verified that my voicemail settings with my provider have notification enabled. The service provider was unable to determine the cause of the issue and verified that my VM settings are correct. In addition, when travelling in the US, I was unable to receive VM notifications on the ATT network using a prepaid SIM. Is there anything that can be done to resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
    Matthew

Your phone is not properly activated that's why push notification doesn't work. You need to activate the phone using an official sim (i.e. locked phone from AT&T should be activated using AT&T sim), JB but do not use Hacktivate option. If you are not able to get an official sim, you have no choice, the phone has to be hacktivated, in this case use SAM or Push Doctor after JB.

    Default Happy New Year

Happy New Year and thank you for the reply. I am a newbie to working with iPhones. Are you saying that I need to run a jailbreak on the phone again followed by SAM or PushDoctor or can I just run one of them as the phone is already JB. If I do need to run a JB again, is there a particular one I need to use? Anything I need to be particularly cautious of? I just don't want a brick over something as trivial VM notification. If there is a risk of that, it's just not worth it.

    Thanks again

OK. So I went on the assumption that I did not need to run the JB again. I installed and ran SAM according to the instructions. I installed and ran iPusher and received "Yay, push notifications work fine". I left a VM for myself but still do not receive notification. Ugh!

I'm sorry for focusing on Push Notification subject and did not see that it was about VM and I've gone too far. VM Push notification needs 3G/EDGE or wifi while VM is operator dependent and supposed to work without Internet so VM notification could have no dependency on Push Notification. VM notification is usually sent to the phone like sms or a flash message, only Notification for Messages needs to be ON. You may get more info from the operator on how they send VM Notification.

I have contacted the provider here and they say that everything is configured properly on their end for me to receive notifications. I have a friend here with the 3GS which was purchased from the provider in an unlocked state and he has no issues with receiving VM notifications. The SIM i have in my iPhone used to be in my old non-3g phone here (Samsung SGH-M140L) and I received VM notifications via SMS. If I move the SIM back to that phone, notifications still work. Any idea where I should look at this point?

    Thanks

Go to Settings, Notifications, turn it ON and see what you can do for each selective service inside it. In Messages set it to show preview.
