No return for a dead pixel (was: i could be the one at fault...)
but i went to the apple store to see if they would replace my iphone because it has a dead pixel.
I filled out a reservation and waited.
When it was my turn....I told the guy the deal, and even used a web app to show him the dead pixel!
he replied...."We can't replace it for one dead pixel. If it was multiple to the point the phone was unusable i could replace it. But dead pixels are common on LCD screens."
D:<
I waited about an hour to be told that.
what should i do? what CAN i do?

i would contact a different store/ or Apple directly, and tell them that is is unacceptable. Obviously you are annoyed by it, and the product should work for that price. Don't just let them run you over with the regular BS--- at least that is what I would do.

Take it to another store, they had no problem at all replacing mine with ONE stuck (green) pixel.
This is one of the things that I consider over the top customer service. If this goes, they are reducing themselves to the level of the rest. That will be sad.
What store was it?

Not to stand with Apple, but most venors in the states do the same thing. Even DELL they will replace the LCD on your laptop IF you have more than 3 dead pixels. just the way it is i guess.

well i went to the Apple store i had purchased the iPhone from.
I had faith it would replace it as it is the same store i took my iPod to, and replaced it 5 to 6 times due to a crappy click wheel. but now i dont know how to feel. :-\
So I'll try another Apple store. If that doesn't work then what channels should i go through?

I'm with ya 100%, thats why I said its "over the top" customer service. Lets hope that apple doesn't become like most vendors.

yeah,
thats a shame since one of apple's qualities is their customer service!

well if I remember correctly, you said that you have a hard time seeing the dead pixel, only if you use the web app to test it. I am sorry but I am with the 2 other people that say just wait it out until it gets another one.
