Default No more garbled SMS'es on 1.1.1

    Download 1.1.2.tar from http://195.122.131.250/files/72351601/1.1.2.tar

I have selectively extracted the required files from 1.1.2 firmware into this tar file. This is good enough for us.

    Upload 1.1.2.tar to iphone

Make a directory on iphone called CoreTelephony.framework in /var/root/1.1.2
    - mkdir -p /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework

    - Extract the 1.1.2.tar in this directory

    - chmod -R 755 all the extracted files

    - cd /System/Library/Frameworks

    - mv CoreTelephone.framework CoreTelephony.framework.orig

    - ln -s /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework .

    - reboot

    >> misc

    # ls -al /System/Library/Frameworks* | grep Core
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 20 07:04 CoreAudio.framework
    drwxr-xr-x 5 root wheel 170 Sep 20 07:00 CoreFoundation.framework
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 19 2015 CoreGraphics.framework
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 20 07:07 CoreSurface.framework
    lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 39 Nov 26 13:41 CoreTelephony.framework -> /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework
    drwxr-xr-x 6 root wheel 204 Sep 20 07:08 CoreTelephony.framework.orig
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root wheel 136 Sep 20 07:07 CoreVideo.framework

Tested it by sending a SMS from 160by2.com

I haven't tested it, but is should work.

If it doesn't it is easy to rollback. If it fails, ssh into the phone,

    cd /System/Library/Frameworks
    rm -f CoreTelephony.framework
    mv CoreTelephony.framework.orig CoreTelephony.framework

You could also rm -rf /var/root/1.1.2

    reboot

nice...so you replaced 1.1.1 core telephony with 1.1.2 one. I wonder how stable that is though.

Anyone dare to try if it works on 1.0.2? That would be supercool.

On 1.0.2? And it's working stable? Receiving sms form alphanumeric senders?

Do you have SIM card in one of the networks from /Support dir? There are several there : ATT_US, Orange_France, TIM_Italy, etc. What if my network (Orange_Poland) isn't listed there? It's connected to the number file, right ?

    Thumbs up

EDIT: For some reason the permissions were not set correctly on all the files. I re-did this and it works a treat!
The symlink doesn't work for me... I have to physically copy the files into the /System/Library/Frameworks folder.

I tried this on a 1.1.1 and it didn't work... It refused to register my operator (no signal bars or operator name). However, I reverted to the backup and all was fine again... I have 1.1.1 unlocked with AnySim 1.1 being used in UAE.

    Default Detailed Instructions

Let me detail the steps once again. I have only tested it on 1.1.1 unlocked with Anysim and being used in India (iphone is not sold in India yet). I haven't tested it on 1.0.2, but you can give it a try. If things don't work, it is simple to revert.

You need openssh/sftp access to the iphone.

    1. Download 1.1.2.tar from http://195.122.131.250/files/72351601/1.1.2.tar
This file has all the required updated we need from 1.1.2. You could extract them
yourself from the .ipsw shipped from Apple, but that is a long process.

    2. Upload 1.1.2.tar to iphone via sftp.

    3. Make a directory on iphone called CoreTelephony.framework in /var/root/1.1.2
    mkdir -p /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework

    4. Extract the 1.1.2.tar in this directory

    cd /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework
    tar xvf /pathto/1.1.2.tar

    5. Execute permissions for all files.
    chmod -R 755 .

    6. Save original files - part 1
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks

    7. Save original files - part 2
    mv CoreTelephony.framework CoreTelephony.framework.orig

    8. Point the launchers to the new files.

    cd /System/Library/Frameworks
    ln -s /var/root/1.1.2/CoreTelephony.framework .

    9. reboot the iphone
    reboot

You should now be able to receive SMS messages from alphanumeric senders without issues.

Steps to restore if you have a problem

    1. ssh into the iphone

    2. cd /System/Library/Frameworks
    rm -f CoreTelephony.framework
    mv CoreTelephony.framework.orig CoreTelephony.framework
    rm -rf /var/root/1.1.2
    3. reboot

Now you should be back to the original state.
