no bluetooth on 4.2.1 3gs
ive never checked bluetooth since having the phone so tonight i tried it by pairing with my BT device in my comp and it wont pair
Ive been on the apple forums and aparantly this is a fault with the 4.2.1 and some cant use wifi either.
Can someone verify this or tell me how to get around it?
Thanks
Mike

I'm using 4.2.1 on my 3gs and no such issue.
Is bluetooth the only thing not working ?
Your wifi, imei, baseband all working correctly ?

Are you talking about pairing devices ? or you are talking about file transfer via bluetooth ? File transfer via bluetooth is not supported.
However, tethering via bluetooth works :-)

Can you please be a bit more specific, your comments almost sound like you have been told that Bluetooth is not present in the hardware of the 3GS (which is completely wrong)
The Bluetooth standard is comprised of two different technical concepts. One is the protocol (how the actual wireless communication is handled). This has version numbers like 1.1, 2.0, 2.1+EDR
The other concept is Bluetooth profiles, these implement specific features. Like streaming stereo audio or acting as a headset (mono audio plus microphone), file browsing and exchange, plus many more
Any vendor can choose to implement one or more Bluetooth profile and still call their product Bluetooth compliant.
Apple has chosen to only implement some of the profiles, there is a page at Apple explaining which profiles they do support.
Third party hackers are working on adding missing profiles - but you need to be jailbroken.

The bluetooth profiles you need are Generic Object Exchange Profile (GOEP) and File Transfer Profile (FTP)
As for tethering, that has different meanings depending on what you mean.
It could mean the PAN bluetooth profile, or it could mean general internet tethering (via USB or via bluetooth) or it could refer to a particular type of jailbreak.

It's all explained at this apple support page: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Supported Bluetooth profiles
