Newbie question about firmware version

Hi there,

I'm new here and I hope you can help me with my simple question. First of all I would like to thank the Dev Team for the awesome work they've been doing.
I just got my iPhone today and I have no plan to activating it with AT&T. I downloaded iNdependence in order to take care of the activation process. According to the ReadMe file I need to download the right firmware version. How do I check what firmaware version I have on my iPhone? Does it matter which version I upload with jailbreak?
I just want to make sure to do right thing, thank you for your support.

AFAIK, you will have 1.0. You can start with 1.0 and see what happens. You don't need to worry about bricking your phone or anything. But remember that after you do activate using 1.0, you will need to upgrade to 1.0.2 (it has a lot of bug fixes). So after activation, you will do a complete restore in itunes, then do the activation process again with 1.0.2.
