Lightbulb New way to store and open files locally via Apache server on your iphone

    Hi everyone,

I needed to store and be able to open PDF files locally on my iPhone, I quickly dropped the "e-mailing me all my PDFs" method and I'm not really satisfied with the 'Filemaker' (safari bookmark) method.

So I installed an Apache server for iPhone:
    - You can find it on the Installer.app, one click install (install BSD first)
    - Opened SSH, navigate to /Library/WebServer/Documents/
    - delete the index.html
    - copy your stuff there, with folder and anything you want

From your iphone, you can now go to localhost/ from Safari and find your files there and open them... offline ...

All of this is great, the only limitation I found until now is that you cannot copy more than about a 120Mo on the folder (when my phone actually has more than 1 Go left). You can find the 'size you have left' on the status bar of the installer.app.

Question: What is that space corresponding to?? and does anyone know how to overcome that space limitation?? tkx

Other than that, I found it's the greatest way to store and open pdf, doc, xls on your phone

PS: another cool function since your iphone is now a server..
If you're at the office, iphone connected to the same wifi network your computer is, you can use your computer to view the files on your iphone via http://(your iphone ip address).

i have installed apache and loaded some files, but they will only load if i am connected via wifi (don't have edge service at the moment).

how do you go about accessing the files if you are not connected, like in airplane mode?
