New Iphone User
Hi I have just purchased an apple 8bg iphone still in the box, just reading the forum for now. I have the old AT & T Service that never upgraded to Cingular with the Blue Sim card. I have visited and read the wiki page and read here pretty good. I have a windows based p.c running Vista Home Premium. I just have a couple of questions.
1. Which applications do I need to jailbreak and activate in Windows Vista? I have read about two applications here Which one is for windows?
2. To Unlock do I use iBrickr and anySim.pxl or the anySim Gui application.
3. Do I need to install any software on the iphone other than the ones to Jailbreak, Activate and Unlock?
My confusion lies in the area of different applications for Mac and Windows.
Thanks

Since youu do have at&t you dont need to unlock, you just need to activate.
Personally I would get winstalller (search for it in the forum) and use it to jailbreak the phone after I restore the phone to 1.0.2 (hold power and home button for 20 seconds to get yellow triangle).
Then use PACAY (point and click activation) to activate the phone after it is jailbroken so you have youtube working.
then just use your phone

you can also connect to itunes so it will transfer you mail settings but you need to enter the passwords manually on the iphone.
<---- now give me thumbs up
Thanks thats what I was thinking but I have a sim reader/writer and have my Sim backed up and plenty of the white AT&T Sims so can I just write one of them and then use that as a new Sim or is there a new and better Sim out there ?
The other question is Wininstaller Vs AppTapp Installer which is for Windows?
I also travel internationally and the question about iBrickr was about the nex PXL file on the wiki page. I will need to be unlocked to use it so would that be the right application and would I have to install any other software on the iphone?
Thanks

No writing requires that you have an old V1 card. it was the old method so why use it???
The new sims have better packet transmit/recieve settings to make internet faster. that is why they use the 3G cards even though at&t has slower GPRS internet.
I like Winstaller, had problems with apptap.
yes if you plan to use international cards in the phone then jailbreak (winstaller) --> PACAY --> iBrickr to install PXL --> ibricker to install AnySim --> run unlocker off iphone (but remember to make settings>general>auto-lock to never) --> run Pacay again to make sure youtube works.
now you are set .. anysim anywhere but you have to enter the network settings when using different sims.

Thanks now I will give it a shot. One final question. There is an AT & T Sim that is in the phone can I use it to upgrade from my old Sim and if so how would I do it without writing to it?
