Default New firmware to kill the free unlock?

I am hearing rumours that the new apple firmware (due out any day) will reverse/prevent the free unlock from working...but that IPSM's unlock will still work as it uses a different method which is more resilient to firmware updates.

    Anyone confirm?

Any firmware update that updates the baseband firmware will disable (temporarily) the current free software (and hardware) unlocks.

However, you'll just have to wait for somebody to provide the new patch to be applied to the firmware, reflash, and be happy, unless they fix the bootloader bug that makes this possible, which would permanently disable the software method.

To be safe, wait for trusted people to announce that the firmware is safe, and do not apply any new update blindly. Or if you know what you're doing, remove the baseband update from the firmware update as described here http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/ind...Update_Service

I don't plan to update any firmware EVER, without reading about it first. Its not worth the risk, and not that much of a sacrifice really... Most people go years without updating firmware on their phones, and I don't feel the need to get minor updates every other week.
